Just a short drive from Sofia, Lake Pancharevo

I went to Lake Pancharevo today, and it was honestly the perfect choice for a quick getaway. It’s only about 20-30 minutes from Sofia, but the vibe is completely different from the city.
The first thing that hits you is the view of the mountains. Even though it’s getting warmer, you can still see the snow on the peaks in the distance, which looks amazing against the blue water. The whole place felt so still and peaceful.
I saw quite a few people waders-deep in the water fishing, just taking their time. There were also groups of people having picnics under the big trees and kids playing on the grass. It’s the kind of spot where you can just walk along the shore, breathe in some fresh air, and clear your head.
If you’re in Sofia and need a break without driving for hours, this is definitely the spot. It’s quiet, green, and has that laid-back local atmosphere that’s hard to beat. Definitely worth a visit if you want to see a bit of Bulgaria's nature on a chill afternoon.
